Warehouse Review and Restructure
"Our challenge in 2010 was to adapt our internal supply chain processes and structures to a point where we could increase product storage and througput capacity by at least 50% , within our existing facility at Padstow in Sydney.
Carson Business Logistics conducted a complete independent review of our current warehouse layout and processes and then produced a number of design options that resolved our current issues , in addition
to allowing for further substantial growth for the business , in terms of handling our products within our warehouse.
This combined with recommendations to upgrade our forklift equipment has now led us to having completed all the restructure recommendations made by Carson Business Logistics and we are very
satisfied with the results".

Valuation and “due diligence” Work for 4PL Acquisition
“I decided in early 2010 as MD and owner of Henning Harders , a well known large and respected Australian owned 4PL , that we needed to more formally expand our Australasian infrastructure by entering
into negotiations to purchase our NZ (Wellington) based agent , Profile Global.
To ensure that both myself and the owner of that business Brian Sewell had both our interests protected and to minimise risk for both parties with a sale of that business to Henning Harders , we jointly engaged
the services of Carson Business Logistics to develop a formal independent valuation of the Profile Global business , conduct “due diligence" and then work through with our respective solicitors and external
accounting advisors to develop an arrangement that suited both parties , minimised risk to each party and set the groundwork for a successful ongoing commercial relationship between both parties and their respective
businesses , to then later facilitate absorbing the NZ business into the Henning Harders “banner”.
Both myself and Brian were very happy with the results of this work and the professional nature of our dealings with Carson Business Logistics.
The deal that was ultimately transacted was considered fair and equitable to both parties and the previous owner of Profile Global is now a key part of the Henning Harders management team."

Logistics Consulting
“In 2005 the Gift and Homewares Association of Australia (GHA) undertook a comprehensive tender / RFP process seeking expressions of interest from appropriate companies to become GHA’s Business Partner and our endorsed supplier for the supply of interstate freight services for our members across Australia. The GHA has over 4000 member companies nationally and the combined member expenditure on interstate freight well exceeds $100M annually.
To assist us with the process of securing the best possible freight deal for our members from both a cost and service perspective, the GHA engaged Carson Business Logistics to assist us throughout the process and provide us with expert advice and guidance. They effectively ran the process from commencement to completion. As a consequence of their advice and assistance GHA was able to secure a new freight deal which will save our members over 30% on their previous arrangements - a significant saving to say the least. The advice and assistance from Carson Business Logistics and the professional manner in which they undertook the required work were integral in us achieving the outcomes we did and I have no hesitation in recommending Carson Business Logistics to prospective clients - we have engaged Carson Business Logistics to work on other logistics assignments for us since their initial appointment”.

Client Testimonial for Warehouse Restructure and Distribution Layout Review
"We embarked on an Operational Improvement Program in June 2006. I found Carson Business Logistics to be the best match to our business needs and requirements. They were willing to really listen to our concerns and were able to help us in our overall objective of driving a change in the culture of our warehouse to become more efficient and more customer focused. We installed our new layout in January 2007.
Carson Business Logistics was able to assist us in improving our internal supply chain performance by:
- Increasing our operational efficiency by restructuring our warehouse - this resulted in a significant decrease in pick paths and travel times for our pickers
- Specifying Material Handling solutions that would further help to drive efficiencies throughout the operation (advice on new forklift, picking trolleys, etc)
- Assisting with changing the culture of the warehouse
The changes that we made with Carson Business Logistic’s assistance have resulted in significant savings in our supply chain costs, in the following key areas:
- Reduced direct manhours
- Reduced overtime throughout our busiest period by 91%
- Increased inventory accuracy
The Carson Business Logistics Operational Improvement Program has helped us to maintain our marketshare in the face of increasingly hostile competition by allowing us to service all of our customers in a manner that was just not possible prior to the layout changes. We are able to turn 92% of our orders around inside of 24-hours
The capital costs for improvements have been recouped through cost savings within 12 months.
I cannot recommend Carson Business Logistics team highly enough. They had no hidden agenda or inflexible formulaic solution to my problem. Rather, they worked very closely with me, particularly in the area of stock data modelling to arrive at the optimal solution for our business. This involved several iterations prior to arriving at our final layout. We are not finished with this program, and are planning to further reduce waste and improve efficiencies in our operations."

Logistics Business Strategic Review , Restructure and Business Sale Facilitation
"We engaged the services of Carson Business Logistics to develop a strategic review of each operating division of our business in 2007.
As a result of implementing the recommendations from this review , the following benefits have been crystallized for our group business :-
- Relocation to premises in Sydney that are closer to our market and more condusive to our main transport business activities
- A structured marketing plan now evolves within the business
- We divested the group business of it’s “non core” container transport services through the sale of that business to Gregorys Transport in Sydney -
In addition to the restructuring advice , Carson Business Logistics also managed extensively the sale process for our container transport business in a professional manner , utilizing their extensive network within the transport industry , in addition to having a direct involvement in negotiations with interested parties.
The AFFT Group is now concentrating on developing it’s core business activities from a directly suitable premises for the group businesses and is now arguably the NSW market leader in airfreight and LCL transport services"

Shareholding Restructure and Merger of Supply Chain Services
Carson Business Logistics facilitated a full assessment and valuation of our business in 2008 – from that point they evaluated how either a full or partial sale of the business could be achieved , as I was nearing retirement we asked for all options to be presented to us and for Carson Business Logistics to search the market for potential suitors – the end result was ideal , the majority of my shareholding was sold to a respected industry partner and my existing partner David Platt then assumed a Managing Director role and took up an additional shareholding in the business – I am now semi-retired which is ideal for me and the business now has developed additional revenue streams , efficiencies and logistics experience , all gained from the introduction of our new industry partner – quite a journey , but we all very pleased !!
